This past weekend, the 4Ocean South Florida Sector Team hosted a cleanup in Boca Raton, Florida. Boca Raton is known for its beautiful beaches and clear blue water which attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. More people on the beach means more trash. The cleanup was hosted at a well known beach in the area, Spanish River Park, where hundreds of volunteers showed up to help clean the beach! Pound by pound the garbage piled up as volunteers returned back to the tent after a few hours of cleaning with bags and buckets filled with plastics, glass, and all other types of trash.
After every volunteer came back with their bags and buckets of trash, the 4Ocean South Florida Sector Team got to work. All of the trash that is collected from 4Ocean's cleanups is rinsed and sorted. After that, it is analyzed to be recycled. If it can possibly be recycled such as glass, plastic, and metal it is brought to a local recycling center. If it is considered non-recyclable waste it is disposed of as such at a reputable waste facility.
On behalf of the entire 4Ocean Team, we want to thank everyone who came out and joined our South Florida Sector Team in their beach cleanup! Together, we can make our oceans and beaches a much cleaner place that both us and marine life can enjoy. Thank you to everyone who helped to make a difference.
