Abaco Bahamas Cleanup

Last week 4Ocean teamed up with Friends of the Environment to conduct a cleanup in Abaco, Bahamas. Working together the team was able to successfully remove hundreds of pounds of marine debris from the island.

Friends of the Environment (FRIENDS) is a non-profit organization located in Abaco, Bahamas with a similar mission to 4Ocean's. FRIENDS works to preserve and protect Abaco's terrestrial and marine environments in order to achieve sustainable living for the wildlife and the people of Abaco. In 1988, FRIENDS was founded in Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas by a small group of local residents who were concerned with certain issues pertaining to the well-being of the environment, specifically marine life. One year later, they were officially established as a non-profit organization and have been hard at work to keep their island beautiful.

The Abaco Islands in the Bahamas accumulates much ocean trash as it washes up along its shores from boats, cruises, and other vessels, as well as natural ocean currents carrying trash here from various parts of the world. Thanks to 4Ocean and Friends of the Environment, we are able to help tackle this trash problem. Our Abaco cleanup is a great example of how by working together, we can make a big difference for our oceans everywhere!
