Friends of Jupiter Cleanup

Friends of Jupiter Beach (FJB) have their monthly beach cleanup on the first Saturday of each month and 4Ocean was able to be a part of it. Friends of Jupiter Beach has been organizing beach cleanups on the first Saturday of every month since 1994. A project that began with a handful of volunteers has evolved into a significant force for environmental care for our marine environment. Volunteers from all ages and multiple generations arrive from 15 area zip codes to help remove trash and recyclables from beaches in Jupiter.

At the June clean-up, everyone divided into teams to clean the beach. Even with cloudy skies and rain, 130 dedicated volunteers turned out and collected 185 pounds of trash and 150 pounds of recyclables for a total of 335 pounds. Waste Management collects the trash and Rapid Removal collects the recyclables.

We were glad to see so many people come out to help make a difference - even in the rain! We look forward to working with Friends of Jupiter for more beach cleanups in the future.
