Rainbow Reef Key Largo Cleanup

This past weekend a few members of the 4Ocean Team were able to be a part of a beach and land clean up on Ocean Drive in Key Largo, FL led by the Rangers at Pennekamp. We joined forces with the team from Rainbow Reef Dive Center for this very successful cleanup.

Despite a storm cutting the cleanup two hours short, together, in one and a half hours we were able to remove over 1,000 lbs of debris, over 300 bottles and cans, metal girders, tires and many other forms of trash. The Florida Keys is a big tourist site for bathers and boaters alike. A lot of the trash found along the coast and along the trails are left from boaters, those camping in the area, and every day people who do not think twice about where their trash might end up. It is important to recycle what you can and dispose of your waste properly so that they do not end up in our oceans.

The 4Ocean team is looking forward to having more successful cleanups like this one in the Florida Keys in the near future.
