Cleaning the ocean is hard work for our captains and crews. Over the last couple of years, as we've continued to scale up our cleanup operations in high impact areas, it became clear that we needed to up our technology game. So we got to work building the new custom 4ocean Mobile Skimmer, which will be a powerful new tool in the fight against ocean plastic.
Almost a year in development, we've finally got the 4ocean Mobile Skimmer in the water doing some trial runs right here in Southeast Florida. After a bit more testing and tweaking, we'll deploy internationally to pull massive amounts of plastic from the ocean.
At just over 22 feet long and boasting retractable arms that give the vessel a wingspan of almost 13 feet, this machine is going to be a game-changer for us. Just a few people are needed to run it, we'll be able to collect much more plastic n much less time.
Check out this video of the 4ocean Mobile Skimmer in action!
Retractable arms funnel plastic and other debris funnel plastic and other debris under the front of the skimmer where it's picked up by conveyor belt that sends trash up the track into a large super sack.
Once the super sack is full, we take the crane that's attached to the deck of the skimmer and move the sack out of the way. We then simply replace it with another one and keep on cleaning.
Here is a closer look at the vessel in action.
At 4ocean, we're always trying to come up with new and more efficient ways to clean the ocean. The 4ocean Mobile Skimmer that is just one of our latest innovations. We're in the process of testing some additional technology, so you'll have to check back with us often to make sure you don't miss those announcements as well.
When you purchase a 4ocean Bracelet, this is the type of innovation that you are funding and we appreciate all your support. It is going to take an army to end the ocean plastic crisis and we're glad to have you on our team! Let us know in the comments below what you think of the newest member of our fleet.
