The Not-So-Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef, located off the coast of Queensland, Australia is potentially facing irreparable damage with as much as 50 percent of the reef being affected by massive coral bleaching.

BBC Earth, partnering with Alucia Productions, put together the following clip showing the extreme difference in the coral reef in just two years.

4Ocean is dedicated to conserving the ocean year-round through our beach and dive cleanups as well as with captains and crews on our fleet of boats cleaning seven days a week. Every month this year, we partner with a different organization to support a different marine-related cause. This March, we have partnered with the Coral Restoration Foundation to help fund scientific research and the outplanting of endangered corals onto reefs.

Thank you so much for your initiative & efforts, Lord knows our beautiful planet needs all the help it can get! I will be doing my small part by also getting others to purchase your bracelet so that this much needed work & awareness can continue. Again, thank you.

You guys are doing great work and we hope it can be extended round the world. We, here in Australia, are very close to Bali where there has been huge amounts of plastics being washed up on their shores. Closer to home, as shown in your above article, our Great Barrier Reef is dying. I hope the methods shown in the article about Coral Restoration Foundation can be used to help the GBR. I have purchased one of your bracelets, namely the March Reef bracelet, to show my support in this project and many of my friends have done the same. Keep up the good work. Our descendants need a decent planet to live on.

But there are many different kinds of algae...and not all of them are beneficial. Discover what 4ocean is doing to address the harmful algal blooms affecting both of Florida's coasts.

How One Current Changed a Scuba Diver’s Life Forever

As we got closer to the ocean floor, we began to approach a reef; this reef was nothing short of epic. The colours were bright and everything appeared to be healthy with marine life flourishing... that was until the current changed. Within seconds, this heaving reef became surrounded with plastic and rubbish.
