Position Overview:

Join 4ocean in our fight against plastic pollution! We are looking for an experienced Field Engineer Manager to oversee the design, manufacture, and implementation of various forms of technology to assist in prevention, interception, and recovery of ocean plastic. They will be a key team member responsible to oversee the strategic development of 4ocean’s deployment of technology for cleanup initiatives. This individual will a team of direct reports, as well as having full ownership of and will build out the team, strategy and objectives for each country.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability and willingness to travel or accept short-term assignments in other locations.
  • Ability to oversee 3-5 direct reports.
  • Oversees the day to day operations of Field service engineer and associates.
  • Coordinate and assign work for employees.
  • Proficient knowledge of technology applications; that can be used for trash/debris removal from water.
  • Oversee the day to day projects related to technology and engineering; working closely with the engineer project managers.
  • Ability to understand the environmental requirements from different country’s governments and convert them into a technical or solution design.
  • Works closely with Director of Operations-Technology.
  • Alert to opportunities for product or process improvements.
  • Proactively communicates the need for fixes or changes in an effort to keep small problems from becoming big problems.
  • Continually focuses on achieving positive, concrete results contributing to the 4ocean movement success.
  • Emerging ability to drive hard conversations to conclusion both internally and externally, engaging others in active, open and productive dialogue.
  • Ability to modify and shift behavior as situations or objectives evolve.
  • Oversee the preparation of plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates under the supervision of the Director of Operations.
  • Oversee the preparation of standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical documents.
  • Time flexibility and self-reliance, along with the ability to work independently, safely and communicate effectively are musts.

Qualifications:
  • Mandatory Bachelors Degree in an Engineering program
  • 7-9 years of project and / or operational experience
  • Experience in managing direct reports.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with AutoCAD or similar software
  • A strong appreciation for the environment and sustainability
  • P&L Management
  • Multi/Bilingual – a strong plus
