Position Overview:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for implementing mission focused, engaging, and seamless volunteer activities for 4Ocean and our partners across the United States. This position works proactively, positively and collaboratively as a member of the 4Ocean cleanups team to develop and maintain an active network of volunteers for a minimum of 10 events per month. This position will also oversee critical aspects of the 4Ocean’s volunteer program, which includes volunteers for 4Ocean beach and ocean cleanups, as well as cleanups that are organized by our partners across the U.S.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the 4Ocean cleanups team to identify and organize ocean cleanups and special events that achieve the company’s goals and reach our desired target audiences.
  • Oversee a team of logistics personnel who support cleanup events
  • Selection of cleanup site
  • Delivery of equipment to beach cleanup site
  • Coordinating the setup of cleanup events
  • Transportation of personnel to event site
  • Controlling equipment inventory
  • Obtaining required permitting for cleanup events
  • Coordinating the removal of debris from cleanups to dump location
  • Working with Cities to provide parking for volunteers
  • At least 1-year experience handling logistics/coordinating events
  • Manage event budgets and calendar of events.
  • Collaborate with numerous outside vendors including park rangers and management, 4Ocean fleet operations, dive shops, environmental organizations, venue management, rental companies, catering companies and others.
  • Manage logistics schedules in coordination with 4Ocean and other special event lead volunteers.
  • Oversee pre/post event logistics work.
  • Attend event planning and de-briefing meetings as needed.
  • Assist in measuring the success of logistics services and activities against 4Ocean strategic business goals.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and proofreading skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Previous event, volunteer coordination, campaign or organizational experience is required (internship experience considered).
  • Flexible availability to work based on cleanup event schedules, which may include nights and weekends.
