Join 4ocean in our fight against plastic pollution! We are looking for an experienced VP Engineer to oversee the engineering aspect as well as various forms of technology to assist in prevention, interception, and recovery of ocean plastic. They will be a key team member responsible to oversee the strategic development of 4ocean’s deployment of technology for cleanup initiatives. This individual will have full ownership of and will build out the team, strategy and objectives for each country.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ability and willingness to travel or accept short-term assignments in other locations.
Manages the day to day operations of Field service engineer and associates.
Manage and assign work for employees.
Proficient knowledge of technology applications; that can be used for trash/debris removal from water.
Manage the day to day projects related to technology and engineering; working closely with the engineer project managers.
Ability to understand the environmental requirements from different country’s governments and convert them into a technical or solution design.
Alert to opportunities for product or process improvements.
Proactively communicates and manage the need for fixes or changes in an effort to keep small problems from becoming big problems.
Continually focuses on achieving positive, concrete results contributing to the 4ocean movement success.
Emerging ability to drive hard conversations to conclusion both internally and externally, engaging others in active, open and productive dialogue.
Ability to modify and shift behavior as situations or objectives evolve.
Manage the preparation of plans, designs, calculations and cost estimates under the supervision of the Director of Operations.
Manage the preparation of standard contract documents, such as technical specifications, engineering reports, regulatory applications and other technical documents.
Time flexibility and self-reliance, along with the ability to work independently, safely and communicate effectively are musts.
Mandatory Bachelors Degree in an Engineering program
10+ years of project and / or operational experience
Strong computer skills, including experience with AutoCAD or similar software
A strong appreciation for the environment and sustainability
Multi/Bilingual – a strong plus
