The day begins with Alex introducing us to the jukung, a traditional Balinese fishing boat that has been adapted for a modern mission. These small yet mighty vessels, typically used by local fishermen, now play a pivotal role in our cleanup efforts. Equipped with innovative net systems, the jukung is transformed into a tool for battling the plastic crisis threatening our oceans.

Alex, a licensed captain with a deep passion for the sea, sets sail with the crew as they navigate the waters to collect plastic waste. The sheer volume of debris they encounter is staggering—during peak seasons, a single vessel can remove up to 10,000 pounds of plastic in just one day. This remarkable effort highlights both the urgency of the problem and the power of human ingenuity to address it.

The day also brings a somber reminder of the harsh reality of plastic pollution. The team discovers a deceased turtle, likely the result of plastic ingestion. It’s a heartbreaking sight that underscores the devastating impact of pollution on marine life. Moments like these fuel their determination and remind us all of the need to reduce our consumption of single-use plastics.

As the day concludes, the crew gathers to reflect on their work and its significance. Their unwavering commitment to cleaner oceans is inspiring, and they urge us to take small steps toward reducing plastic waste in our daily lives.

Follow along as our Bali adventures continue to shine a light on the fight against ocean plastic. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more stories of hope and action!
